If SHE Can Make It, So Can I!

Yoko's gonna do her thing all over you."
REALLY John? And, just what is Yoko's thing may I ask? Spewing the musical equivalent of a really nasty projectile vomit into the ears of thousands of innocent individuals? Assailing the ear holes of every dog within a 100 mile radius?

She kind of sounds like she's in the process of dying while experiencing the most intense orgasm known to the history of human sexuality near the end there. On a morbid note, this would be a swell piece of music to commit suicide to because, while I was listening, I had the fleeting thought to do just that to be completely honest.

Anyway, *SHOUT OUT TO ANY FELLOW ANTI-YOKO(ians?).*

Hey, its ART!

I adore burlesque. Bulesque today is primarily defined as a more artistic form of the striptease and is mingled with vintage pinup elements. The performances revolve around one specific theme. At times, fire breathing acts, comedy routines, and other forms of satire are included although, primarily, today's form focuses on the beautiful ladies and the physical feats that their pronounced flexibility allows them to perform.

All of that to say that this video of a show that was done in Medulin, Croatia that is sexy but still classy but, if underwear and pasties offend you, skip it:

I would kill to go to a performance myself. Just the right bit of the sleaze factor without being classified as smut.

You can see tons of videos of two other wildly popular entertainers, Fanny Tastic and Michelle L'amour at YouTube or visit the site of Frenchie Kiss who is one of the instructors at Studio L'amour where you can schedule classes!

The Pros & Cons of Online Retail Therapy.

These arrived on my doorstep yesterday:

Photobucket
Carnival Dress- $39.99 (No longer available on website.)

Photobucket
City Lights Ballet Flats - $29.99 (Which I have to return for a 6 as opposed to 6 1/2. See me roll my eyes?)

Photobucket
Sweetheart Roses Ring - in purple- $11.99
All items from Modcloth .

I have a confession to make. I spend money frivolously on clothing any chance I get which granted, is not very often. At least I pay my bills first and foremost though which makes it not half as bad, right? Sometimes I feel guilty though but, I know I shouldn't. I mean, I also give to others as much as possible so, you couldn't really call me selfish. I decided this list would get posted so as to remind me of the good and bad points of something that, if left unchecked, could be a very big vice.

PROS:

1. It gives one something to look forward to in an otherwise mundane, routine exsistence.
2. In turn, it brightens one's mood.
3. It assists in building one's good credit.
4. It makes for a wardrobe that is nearly entirely unique and often unexpected.
5. Which, in turn, makes for great conversation starters. (Lord knows, I can use all the help I can get in that respect.)
6. A gal can get, in most cases, exactly what she's been coveting as opposed to settling for something 'close to it.'

CONS:

1. Its hard to judge what size will be appropriate. This goes mostly for shoes because with shirts, pants, dresses, you can go by your measurements.
2. In that same vein, when an item arrives and its not the right fit, its a hassle to box it back up, ship it back out, and await the proper size's arrival.
3. With the web right at one's fingertips, its a frequent battle of resisting temptation.
4. That credit card bill that arrives promptly at the beginning of each month. (If we could eliminate this one small detail, I could handle all the other piddly cons on this list.)

Hmmm, seems to me that the pros outweigh the cons, eh?
Well, that makes me feel better, I must say & much less guilt ridden.

And what about you, love?
Share with me some vices of your own.

I've one thing to say on this subject.

If I were Jessica, I would not pay any mind to what people are saying about her hot, curvy figure. However, I would consider firing my stylist. Those mom jeans are atrocious and to my mind, animal print is NEVER a good choice. EVER. Otherwise, yay for a healthy woman in Hollywood!

I'm one that usually doesn't go for the dry humor of British television but, this segment from a 90s comedy program; Harry Enfield and Chums , off the BBC is great.

My Favorite Scenes in Film, Part 1.

Photobucket
Victor/Victoria is the 1982 Blake Edwards effort starring his charming, lovely wife; Dame Julie Andrews as Victoria/Count Victor Grahzinski and Robert Preston as the GAY Parisian Toddy, who takes this lowly wretch off the streets of Paris, turning her into an uber-successful "drag queen." The film also features Lesley Ann Warren portraying Norma and James Garner taking on the role of King Marchand.

There are a slew of incredible scenes including; The Shady Dame from Seville , Le Jazz Hot , or my personal favorite,

You & Me
:

Oh, its also endlessly quotable with such gems as;

Norma: I think that the right woman could reform you.
Toddy: You know, I think that the right woman could reform you, too.

King Marchand: I just find it hard to believe that you're a man.
Victoria: Because you found me attractive as a woman?
King Marchand: Yes, as a matter of fact.
Victoria: That happens frequently.
King Marchand: Not to me.
Victoria: Just proves the old adage: "There's a first time for everything."
King Marchand: I don't think so.
Victoria: But you're not a hundred per cent sure?
King Marchand: Practically.
Victoria: Ah, but to a man like you, someone who believes he could never, under any circumstances find another man attractive, the margin between "practically" and "for sure" must be as wide as the Grand Canyon.

King Marchand: If you were a man, I'd knock your block off.
Victoria: And prove that *you're* a man?
King Marchand: That's a woman's argument.
Victoria: Your problem, Mr. Marchand, is that you're preoccupied with stereotypes. I think it's as simple as you're one kind of man, I'm another.
King Marchand: And what kind are you?
Victoria: One that doesn't have to prove it. To myself, or anyone.

Quite a switch from Mary Poppins , isn't it?

This movie just happens to be on Krista's Top 10 Favorite Films of All Time so, if you haven't seen this campy yet elegant masterpiece in all its glory, I highly suggest you do, my dears.

Jean Shin.

I happened across artist Jean Shin today and, I fell in love with quite a few of her art installations. I'm really more of a 'classic' art lover as opposed to modern art, if you know what I mean but, the way that Jean takes completely UNartistic articles and transforms them into things of amazement and wonder should appeal to anyone who enjoys any sort of quirkiness the way I do!

There are a slew of works to view on her site, linked above but, a few favorites of mine are:

TEXTile; comprised of 22,528 recycled computer keycaps and 192 custom keycaps, fabric, with a customized active keyboard & interactive software:

Soundwave; Comprised of melted records on wooden armature:

4.) I like finding surprisingly enough, really good movies on On Demand's Free Movie section to watch because, television sucks it.

4.)In all seriousness, my therapy sessions and the fact that I've finally kicked myself in the ass enough times to return to them on a regular basis because, although I often do not want to go that day, when I leave, I'm ever so glad I went.
5.)Taking walks on days that are fairly decent for such an activity with my IPod blasting in my ears, causing me to speed walk to the beat.

And number 4:

All About The Beatles.

I adore these guys:
Photobucket
THE BEATLES
That's right, I love 'em.

Since birth, the greatness that was this 1960s mega group has been ingrained into my being. My father was an avid fan and as a small child, I was all about blasting some Penny Lane on my family's old record player.

So, I've been thinking, IF you enjoy these four mop topped boys from Liverpool the way I do, I have a question or two.

Ready? Okay!

1.) If you can, (and I know its hard, admittedly, I can't pick just one myself), what Beatles song really set your feets to tappin' with the most vigor and enthusiasm?
I flip flop on this issue every few months or so. A few months ago, I was very much about the Psychedelic Era Beatles, a la Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, For the Benefit of Mr. Kite, and When I'm 64. Now, this month, I can't get enough of their later, more guitar infused, rocking songs like Revolution, Why Don't We Do It in the Road, and Let it Be.

2.) In a similar vein, what ERA of The Beatles do you prefer?
I've always had a taste for their later endeavors as opposed to their early 60s poppy sound. When I think about it, I guess I am definitely a late 60s kind of gal. The longer hair, the slight beard? SO much more attractive then their closely cropped couiffures and their smooth as a baby's bottom faces in my mind.

3.) Favorite Beatles moment or memory?
I think its hilarious how John Lennon stated that The Beatles were "bigger than Jesus Christ." and every Alma, Mildred, and Rose in America proceeded to ban such 'filth' from their child's record player. I don't know why I love that moment so much so, don't ask why. I'm just badass in that general fashion.

4.) What Beatles records do you have in your possession?
Nowadays I get most of my music transferred to the almighty IPod but, I have my share of Beatles CDs including; Beatles, 1; Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, Magical Mystery Tour, and Beatles: Anthology.

And, last but certainly not least by any means;

5.) Who is YOUR favorite member of The Fab Four?
Photobucket
No words needed, am I right?

In conclusion, I leave thee with some of my favorite goodies:

Helter Skelter:

I Am the Walrus:

Visiting India:
